I am a first year student at Rit,BrightArt & Design Department
I am a first year student at Rit, I am a graphic design major.
Your fist year you will start with foundation courses, this includes 2d, drawing, 3d and your liberal arts requirements, electives.

These classes all though seem tedious because of the amount of work and time they acquire are very beneficial in the end, you will learn a lot of elements and skills that help you with your design process, major. For example, you will learn color theory, craftsmanship, presentation , etc.

Craftsmanship-that is one of the biggest one, professors are very nit pick about how well something is done.

2d-is a class of traditional and digital art, possibly one of my favorites,
Drawing-be prepared to draw nude models(not good looking ones either more women and men in their 40-60s)

3D-lots of building and creating with your hands
The students, if you put effort to be social and open are all very friendly and willing to get to know each other. You have to find something to do, although the college itself registers a lot of events for the students, we have had comedians, magicians, singers and game days , etc.

*Get SEASON HOCKEY tickets-it's a must, its a hot event , to go to and meet new people, cheer on the RIT TIGERS

Classes are quarterly this means 11 weeks of packed up work, midterms and finals so you "will be" Busy.

For design majors finals are usually a final design project rather than a test.
There are plenty of places to eat on campus and thats a chill thing to do with friends, as well as clubs and on campus parties, you just have to find them and know the party people. The college is very academically focused, be prepared to work a lot and have a lot of competitions, live critiques.

Question
Before deciding to go to RIT, I wasQuite BrightMath
Before deciding to go to RIT, I was accepted to MIT, Cornell, Northeastern, and Merrimack College. After visiting each, I quickly realized RIT was the right college for me.

As an Applied Mathematics major, I am challenged here at RIT. Most of the professors in the math program are from out-of-country, but their english and knowledge of the subject are both fantastic. Every professor I have had has been available and friendly. Most professors here have extended open door hours, and are always willing to make an appointment with you.

There are numerous Cooperative Education and Internship opportunities available at RIT. By contacting your Co-Op Advisor, you will almost surely obtain an interview.

RIT is an academic based school. If you're looking for parties, then it is not the school for you. If you're looking for a great education that will definitely secure you a competitive career when you graduate, it is the school for you.

The male to female ratio is large, but each year, it is becoming smaller. More and more females are becoming interested in RIT each year.

The campus is full of a patented red brick, but the new buildings being built on campus are more aesthetically pleasing. It is cold and windy here, and we do receive a record amount of snow, but why does weather play any role in what college you choose to attend? RIT is a competitive school in which you were learn. First year will seem easy, but do not let it fool you. After your first year, you have to try and you will be challenged, but every great school should challenge you at some point.

Question
I am a sophmore student in computer Engineering,AverageComputer Engineering
I am a sophmore student in computer Engineering, I originally came to RIT for Information Security and Forensics, but soon realized that networking was not for me, and fell in love with the hardware/software aspect of RIT.

I would say that the snow is a serious part of RIT life, it makes winter travel a pain if your not used to the northeast. Plus 8am classes when its 9* outside sucks, especially if your walking or waiting for a bus that is late.

Fall and Spring at RIT seem to be much livelier and more fun. Its a shame the winters often over shadow this. RIT does not have something to do every night, however usually weekly there is something to do, and you can get involved with things and find things to do every night. However myself I am more a hermit and tend to stay inside. I find alot of the groups are often not so approachable as I would like, its often like you need to know someone or be very friendly and socialable already.

The academics make you feel like youve actually learned something useful, however at times you wounder if the staff has even read over some of the work. Often my lab instructors have to change many things just so a lab will work or make sense. Its very frustrating that rit is not so upto date with academics and prefers to spend so much time focusing on making rit more popular, and being the buisness they are. I wish they would focus on the aspects of the school they dont show the tour groups, and update the old parts of rit instead of building new useless water fountains they can't even run all year...

Professors are usually willing to help you as long as you are responsible in approaching them in timely manners. Sometimes you get a foreign teacher and that complicates things sometime, but usually everything can be worked out.

Much of the work you will have to do on your own, and learn which i do not like, i feel like it should be more spoon fed, then figure this out yourself.

I get by with minimal studying but you really need to study at rit to do well.
Partys, - okay, i will say that RIT is NOT a party school, if you want crazy partys look somewhere else .at rit you come to learn. That being said, you can FIND partys, and some are actually pretty good. RIT has this strange atmosphere, where we all are very friendly and like to get along and have a good time. if you leave your room and ask around and get involved you will have a great time. the occasional RIT events are usually amazing and tons of fun.

3oh3 came to rit and we had a pool party with them. Seriously rit is a great school for having fun and getting a great education.Rit for me was a really great school, my first year i met a ton of friends in my dorm, which shifted through the year. Now they are part of my life and im really happy with it. For me everything worked out and i am enjoying my time here. I would say RIT is a frustrating school, but if you can put up with all of its faults, you will get a great paying job and walk away with a great knowledge.
