Positive Negative Neutral Advice
Hey all.Not so brightArt & Design Department
Hey all. I posted on this site just about around a year ago. I went to RIT and have since transferred. Im sorry, but socially, my life has since blossomed alot more and I dont regret it one bit. I felt way too sheltered at RIT and just coudnt take it, i guess I just didnt fit it. I always wanted to go out and do stuff and I would have to really pressure people to come with me. I guess Counterstrike was more important. Anyhow, not to make this too long I have two things to share. 1). This website is funny and, surprisingly, hits the target quite well. it is http://mbsrules.com/RIT.htm. Its a song somebody made about the school lifestyle, check it out. 2). Me and my friends that I made would go out and have fires all the time at this certain secret spot all the time when the weather was nice enough. The spot is behind gracies but no one can see it at night so you dont have to worry about being caught. (considering the school wont let you even have a microwave in your dorm, they prolly wouldnt look kindly to people having bon fires.) Anyhow, I am being dead serious about this. Go to the corner store buy some hotdogs and go have a fire at this place, maybe even throw a few back while there, I certainly did. It is hard for me to accurately describe how to get there but start at gracies looking east, walk past c lot and hang a right onto whatever road that is. Follow it for a short distance until you get to a clearing on your right. go into that clearing, (for some reasong i remember big rocks near where you should go). go up the clearing until you get to the part where it is no longer a clearing but turns to brush. find a way down into the ravine you should see and, if you look around, dont venture too far, you should see a stack of bricks for a fire pit and some cinder blocks to sit on. Believe me. This fire pit is def. my best memory of RIT and I wish I had thrown a party there. If you are feeling down about the place, this will certain spark some spiRIT. Good luck and god bless.

Question
On a bad note, RIT treats you likeQuite BrightOther
On a bad note, RIT treats you like a number. There is never enough space and they spend your money on sidewalks, etc. instead of building more dorms (we're overcrowded as it is). Don't believe the lie that you are guaranteed a dorm. They will give you one..but it may a kitchen with 4 other people...I'm not kidding. However, the quality of education is excellent though and you'll make a lot of friends here. You'll work your butt off but you'll come out a better person and student for coming here. I met most of my good friends here and got involved in some extracurriculars so I met many different kinds of people. I used to be an introvert but RIT has helped me change that. I like it here. (I also escaped the horrors of dormland by transferring from community college...I would recommend that route).

Question
RIT is a very good academic school.Quite BrightMusic Education
RIT is a very good academic school. You get buried with classwork and are expected to learn at a very aggressive pace. You will learn alot here. The schools reputation does not extend very far outside Western New York. Don't expect RIT's name to land you a job in most parts of the country. I would not recommend this school only because of the extremely negative social experience that is had by most that attend. It has taken me 2 years to excape the negativity absorbed there.
