Plainly most of these reviews seem to beSuper BrilliantPolitical Science
Plainly most of these reviews seem to be from angry losers who had too much of a bad time here. Damn, I mean the system does suck, the faculty are jerks and you can see they care more about getting new students into the school than fixing existing parts of the school..... but suck it up. Jesus you little princesses, you aren't always going to have your nice little rooms with your nice things. After this comes real life, and in America that means your parents are going to kick you out and you'll have to share an apartment with a friend while you work to get a big enough salary to afford your own place. You people come across as spoiled suburbanite adultchildren, despite how many of you claim that in fact the student body are the highschoolers. You're all so up your own asses you can't even see that. The people here are normal. What is this about "weirdos", you mean there aren't enough hipsters like you here? I just don't get it. Look around you. Look in even DC, our CAPITAL CITY. New York. All major cities have plenty of rundown parts, monoliths a century old and yet you expect this place to be 100% new? Childishness defines most of these posts.

Anyway enough of raging against the idiots. I have had more than my fair share of differences in this Uni. For one there is in fact a Greek like. Two frats and a sorority, but apparently idiots can't be social enough to find these people. Their parties last until about 1:30 usually, but again you shouldn't feel entitled to their beer- they're big tough dudes who will kick your ass if you get uppity. Luckily I'm friends with a few of them and have enough sense not to piss them off too much. You should remember this. Not telling their houses- if you're cool they'll let you know where they are and if you aren't then you don't deserve their hospitality.

My differences generally involve the persecution of students by cops. Cops are not interested in protecting you. They are interested in ruining your day. Do not trust them. The professors.... far too many (still a minority though) do not care at all whether you pass or fail. You are walking money to them. They give you no information unless you ask for it, but you need to know what info to ask for before you can have it if you understand my meaning (you need to know the question before you can ask for the answer) all around unhelpful. English professors are generally awesome. There are still a few asses there as well. Science professors tend to be nerdy and robotic- pass the class or don't, they're there to teach. Don't whine about it. Math professors are also good people. History professors seem to be the most guilty of being assholes, I would assume its the fact that history is only good for being a history professor. Polysci ranges around from asshole to awesome. In general if the uni accuses you of shit just suck their dicks and hope they let you off easy.... then plot to return in 20 years as a millionaire and ruin their day like they ruined yours oh so long ago.

Someone here was whining about the quality of girls. I bet he's one of the creepy ugly guys who signed up only because he assumed with a 2:1 girl:guy ratio he'd have a chance at scoring. Newsflash- the girls are generally sweet, and many are cute. Many are also not so cute. This is because its a girls university and the not-so-cutes come here hoping not to be bothered. Or I would assume so. As a guy I notice there are the effete wimpy guys, the tough and handsome guys (myself) and the weirdos who are clearly only here for the girls.

Why did I come here you ask? Because it was this or GMU, which is a mile from my house. I wanted to be free and loose upon the world. All I can say is my review is probably the best here, as all the others seem to smack of whiny children. Did I get screwed many times by this university, did I get angry at their lack of concern for the students, did I feel mad that I'm treated both as an adult and a kid simultaneously? Yes. But if you aren't a moron there is plenty to love. Many professors are awesome, the clubs at least try to get you to join and get involved and if you aren't a social reject there are in fact parties to be found.Oh, and don't trust the tour guides. They always try to paint a rosy picture of UMW as some kind of utopia. In reality its the same as everywhere else- good points and bad points are about equal. That's life, enjoy your stay.

I loved this school,Political Science
I loved this school, certainly not every minute, but overall I couldn't have wished for anything better. If you want to study liberal arts in Virginia this should be your top pick. This school and my internshhips through the school prepared me intellectually and socially for the real world.
