-The food on campus is also fairly good. I always hear about other people complain and say they hate their schools food but that is not the case here. Everybody eats on campus regularly regardless of what year you are in. There is a lot of variety.
-The gym and fitness center is amazing and they offer a ton of great recreational activities.
-I do feel like I am learning a lot of useful information here. Not just busy-work. I am definitely confident I will be able to find a job after graduation easily.
Negatives
-The social life is not the best. Don't get me wrong, you can always find a party to go to if you know the right people but the parties aren't always the best. They are very rarely like what you expect college parties to be like or what you see in movies. There are a ton of awkward/weird kid at RIT, but you don't really notice it once you're out of class because they mostly stay in their rooms
-The parking on campus is terrible. You might not think this is a big deal until you go to do it. You have to park so far away to get anywhere on campus which is miserable in the cold windy winters.-Not all, but some of the teachers are terrible. They are clearly all very smart, but some are too smart to be able to even teach students on our level.
2. rit is a dry campus. they do take this seriously. this also means that the majority of parties in on campus apartments are shut down by 11pm. oh yeah, and at these parties, don't expect to see more than 3 girls.
3. LADIES. don't get too excited by the 30:70 girl:guy ratio just yet. you will become familiar with the saying, "the odds are good, but the goods are odd". once you eliminate the guys who don't leave there room or the labs, then the ratio is basically equal.
4. the weather is rochester really isnt that bad. as long as you have a heavy jacket, you will be fine. on campus the wind tunnels are terrible because of the campus' layout, but the roads in rochester are always clear (aka classes are never cancelled). plus theres a skii lodge just 45 minutes away and rit's hockey team kicks ass.
5. 10% of rit students, a good percentage of the faculty, is deaf. do yourself a favor and research the deaf culture before you come to the campus.
6. besides gracie's, the food isn't bad. too bad for freshman, you will be stuck going to gracie's for at least 2/3 of your meals.
7. if you plan on leaving campus for whatever reason, don't expect to rely on the bus system.8. almost every person you meet will either be an engineering or photography major.
