In hindsight, after trying to get positions inArt & Design Department
In hindsight, after trying to get positions in my field (Animation through the School of Film & Animation MFA program) I realize how poor the courses and preparation for the work world really were. The professors, with very few exception, were lazy. Discussions of how to actually gain entry to the field (ie internships) were rare despite it being virtually mandatory for the field. I think of my class, maybe 2 of 15 actually work in the animation field currently and not necessarily in creative roles. At one point during my 3 years of coursework, they didn't even have a 2D animation instructor. For a year. At an "animation" program.

Question
- design and art department at college didDesign Arts - Industrial Design/Graphic Design/etc
- design and art department at college did not handle students switching majors well; they advised me to take summer courses that were only 2 weeks long

- after taking the summer classes I was further behind because I was still a first year in my new major and ended up skipping classes that I had only 2 weeks of practice and knowledge in from the summer - not enough individual design training, practice, and experience because emphasis is on group projects after year 1 in graphic design major.

Question
I received an associates degree from a communitySuper BrilliantEngineering Department
I received an associates degree from a community college before attending this school, for less than the cost of 1 semester of this school. I learned more, and had a better understanding of material in 1 week of community college then I did in my 4 years here.

The only saving grace to RIT is the co-op program, which landed me a job.The diploma's look as though a 3 year old learning Word for the first time made them. Again, community college associates degree diploma looks professional, RIT sucks!
