UAB is an "adequate" University.BrightPublic Health
UAB is an "adequate" University. Its great in nothing except medical school. For all other purposes this is just a run of the mill school. The campus is ugly stretched out over an even uglier city. The social scene sucks, people are generally absorbed in friendships outside of school because most people are locals or foreign, like asian or indians. Its hard to get plugged in and the college "life" sucks. The university tries to milk you for every cent, like making you buy 250 dining dollars regardless if you want their shitty food or not, and there are plenty of other things. Keep in mind run of the mill!!

Question
I would love to talk about how goodNot so bright
I would love to talk about how good or bad the University is but since I put my application in for the DNP program on 1-23-2011 called to talk to Mike Jamison on multiple occasions. E-mailed and called on several occasions w/o reply or returned message. Today I finally reach Mrs. Lavier and she states that I applied to the wrong school. When I asked why Mr. Jamison did not tell me this on multiple conversations, Mrs. Lavier has not comment. If this school of nursing customer service is like this for prospective students I don't want to know how it is to get in contact with someone. Other NP students (that quite the school due to lack of communication) informed me that applying to this college was a waist of my time but I did not listen. After this experience I am floored about the lack of communication and customer service skills UAB has. I feel as though they lied to me when I called to talk about my application.

Question
I love UAB.Quite BrightBiology
I love UAB. I was chosing between UAB, Auburn, and Alabama when I was going to college and I went to UAB because they offered me the most money. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. The general feeling at UAB is one of academic excellence. I know people in every field at UAB that would excell at their respective fields no matter what university they were to go to. The social life is not nearly as bad as some people give it credit for. Think about it, you have the biggest city in the state and all of its suburbs at your doorstep. All in all, Alabama at Birmingham is an amazing university for anyone who wants a real education, not just the "fake" college experience.
