Having visited friends atQuite BrightEconomics
Having visited friends at countless schools, and having initially bitched about the social life, there is nowhere better to spend four years than at Middlebury. Midd does more than give you a degree and a high starting salary, it shapes you as a good person and surrounds you with lifelong friends.

Middlebury taught me how to communicate, which as I made my way through the job marketplace I found that very few people can effectively do. This made ALL the difference.

Question
I spent 1998-2002 at Midd and had someQuite BrightHistory/Histories (art history/etc.)
I spent 1998-2002 at Midd and had some of the greatest and worst experiences of my life there. Such is the case with undergrad though, no? The one academic MEGA-PLUS I can say about my Midd education was that it taught me to write. Once I arrived on the workplace scene I realized that the average American college grad has difficulty forming a sentence, let alone articulating a complex thought. I cannot thank the History department enough for their efforts. The faculty is fantastic too. No need to elaborate - fantastic! The administration on the other hand... pitiful. From the overzealous and overbearing security staff to the Deans who seem to need to call a "hearing" over every pin drop, the micromanagement of campus life from above is ever-present.

As for the people there - definitely a ton of the arrogant NYC/New England crowd running around. My suggestion to any current or future student is to choose your close friends wisely but don't make enemies. Scent of a Woman is a good movie to check out here... I met some great lifelong friends there but I also met many deplorable people. The catch is I might have to work with one of them in the future OR work FOR one of their parents. Get the drift? One great thing to remember is that most of the arrogant "rich" kids also happen to be emotionally weak folks due to their pampered/sheltered upbringing. Most can be squashed rather easily should it ever get that far.Bottom Line - College is to prepare you for the real world. I came out better prepared than most.
