Housing staff is atrocious.BrightArt & Design Department
Housing staff is atrocious. Moving in was a nightmare. They should hire a full-time mediator. If you have issues with your roommates, they ignore them and hope it subsides because they are just RAs who do it for the free tuition, not because they are qualified. They refuse to allow anyone to move unless you continue to press them; they hope you give up because they are too lazy. Their off-campus housing is SO far away, 15-30 minutes by shuttle to Panther Village (yuck) or Chapman Grand. The apartments on campus are run-down. I transferred after two years.

Question
FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE 2017 read if you areBrightUndecided
FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE 2017 read if you are interested in attending: If you are really ambitiously into film and good at it, Chapman is the place for you. Greek life is also growing to be very popular here but not in a good way, the school is so small that the frats are condescending, conceited, and pretentious even though they are so small. The population is like around %70 boys and %30 girls and you constantly notice that. Parties are like 10 girls to 2 boys, parties are very small, exclusive, and cliquey. It is the same small frat parties every weekend with the same group of drama-obsessed and self-absorbed people. As a boy that wants to rush a small frat and have a ton of girls to hook up with this is the place for you, but if you are not interested in the Greek life or really ambitiously talented at film Chapman is likely not the school for you. There are not many outside of those cliques, and even the film students are exclusive because they are SO talented and making so much money working on major feature film sets. It is such a competitive film program that it is difficult to come here with dreams of doing film unless you already have a lot of knowledge and skillset in the field. If you are into hiking, the outdoors, and nature or hippie folk, YOU WILL NOT FIND THAT HERE go elsewhere. Also Orange is small and not fun there is nothing to do, the beach/nature is 20-25 minutes away without traffic, and it is right by dangerous Santa Ana. Sorry Chapman, I have had a good time but not for me and I do not think that it is for everyone.

Question
Chapman is a great school if you areBrightFine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc
Chapman is a great school if you are from a family making at LEAST $100,000/year. Going to this school has driven me AND my parents into irreconcilable debt. The campus is beautiful and the professors and people are nice on the surface. But unfortunately connecting with anyone at this school has been impossible because of my financial situation. Students that go to this school aren't really expected to work and make money for themselves in the way that lower income students must. Therefore many majors are very demanding, and unforgiving when it comes to balancing work with school. Learn from my mistake and don't go to a private school, no matter how great of a school it is.
