At the risk of sounding like a commercialQuite BrightPolitical Science
At the risk of sounding like a commercial for Chapman University, I must admit that it is a perfect location for a college. Far enough from L.A. where you can breathe, yet close enough to party there any night of the week. Although, from my experience, Orange County has everything you need including theme parks (Disneyland & California Adventure; Knotts), malls (The Block), beaches (Huntington) and the club scene (Glam, etc.).

As for the school, I have been pleased with the academics, class size and on-campus activities. The teachers have been readily accessable. I live in the dorms and a lot of students do go home on the weekend, so if you have a way to get off campus or a lot of studying to do, or even just relish the relative peace and quiet, it's okay.

People here are friendly. Although it can be cliqe-ish, everyone welcomes you if you are not shy. Bottom line is: the location is the main factor of the popularity of the school. It is probably not much different than any other high-priced, quality, private university except for where they built it.

It can get awful lonely on the weekendsBrightEconomics
It can get awful lonely on the weekends or the certain nights that sororities and fraternities have their meetings or Greek socials. I'd say that 2 in every 3 freshmen join sororities so if you plan on coming to chapman join the Greek system. I didn't and it gets so lonely and quiet when all the other students have gone to either their off campus residences or social clubs... :(

Although expensive, this is a great university with many resources offered to students. The people are all gorgeous and you can't beat the nice So Cal weather and the Orange County location. It is a competitive school, but the class sizes are small so the quality of education is much greater. Highly recommended over USC if you're thinking about going into film!
