I worked hard in high schoolMay 07 2018Animal Studies
I worked hard in high school. Honestly if you have an average above a 94 in high school, you are probably good. However, 92-94 they sometimes put people on the waiting list. Reach for the higher grades. I personally didn't like to take a lot of APs, I only took three. But just have one-four to show on your transcript. In college APs don't mean anything - just extra credits you have to further you along. Also join groups and clubs in high school, become a leader in them. Definitely get involved and show how you are different in your college essay.

I transferred in with 52 credits and a 2.9 GPA from NCC. I did not submit my SAT scores or any essay. Just apply early and have a good GPA and you should be fine.

Get decent exam scores, write meaningful applicationMar 27 2013Physics
Get decent exam scores, write meaningful application essay, same as for any University. I took SAT exam a few months after immigrating to USA, and it was good enough to get into Stony Brook. The score threshold is not very high, and they accept about half of the applicants I think, so you should have no problems getting in

I applied early because I was told I wouldDec 12 2009Political Science
I applied early because I was told I would never get in. The worst part about the school is that they let so many people in and the campus is crawling with freshman in the beginning of the year. Thankfully most realize they can't handle it. It's competitive once you arrive. I would apply early, try to do well on your SAT/ACTs and try to write a very eloquent essay.

I wrote a very good essay and met the standards for admission.
