Faculty takes the time to make sure you understand the material. Greek organizations are the primary source of social activities and fun.

The town of Buckhannon and surrounding areas are beautiful! This should be considered a positive, not a negative as some previous reviews indicated. Buckhannon is charming and was rated as one of the Top 100 small towns in America. The town & campus is especially beautiful in the fall.

There are great recreational oppurtunies for anyone who is interested in the outdoors. Students can ski at one of 4 ski resorts within 1.5 hours of the school. There is also white water rafting at the New River gorge, just over an hour from the school. Audra St. Park is another popular destination for student who love the outdoors, it offers hiking & swimming within 25 minutes of the college.

Wesleyan is a great school. I am 100% satisfied and I hope to visit Wesleyan for Homecoming. My wife is also a WVWC Almni and she is equally satisfied.

Question
The Wesleyan brochure is very pretty and soBrightEconomics
The Wesleyan brochure is very pretty and so is the campus - they leave out alot though too... they don't tell you that there is a railroad track around the back of campus by the freshmen & senior dorms that has trains running 6-8 times/day ...or the 24 hour sawmill that runs behind the freshman dorms. Wesleyan "guarantees" housing for full-time students and you have to be "allowed" to live off campus - however, it is common to not have a housing assignment until the day you move on campus, be a junior stuck in freshmen dorms or get a suite and then be told your living room is going to be converted into a dorm room. The academics are good - but the administration will drive you insane. Lots of red tape & closed doors. Also they mislead campus security reports -- Ex: Rapes are very common, especially at frats, but the school, though recognizing frats, does not have to include crimes that occur there in their crime statistics. They also do not report rapes that the victim does not prosecute - which accounts for 90% ... very misleading.

Question
Speaking from the perspective of an alum, ICommunications
Speaking from the perspective of an alum, I couldn't have been better prepared. I constantly meet people who attended larger universities or colleges with more recognizable names, yet this hasn't benefited those alumni in any way. To sum it up in one sentence-- I'm constantly being told by others, specifically potential (and subsequently, actual)employers that my resume is quite impressive and the number of multi-faceted experiences I was given at WVWC is quite commendable. These comments speak for themselves. Reflecting back on my experiences as a student, the small campus afforded a lot of luxuries students at larger institutions are deprived of, such as knowing my professors, the staff, and the administration very well. More importantly, however, these people knew ME very well. Their knowledge of me as an individual meant they knew my strengths and weaknesses and gave me opportunities to capitalize on my strengths and address and improve my weaknesses. Furthermore, the small student population seems to be a negative to some, but it must be remembered that you only have four years to meet your peers, and a class is constantly coming and going. Therefore, you never, truly know EVERYONE. A great illustration of how a small student population is better is my friends from "home" who are constantly amazed at the number of close friends I made at WVWC and the fact that we all still keep in close contact. They feel there are few peers at their schools that they got to know "well" due to their institutions' large size and the effects thereof. From a safety perspective-- I have never felt so safe in my life--regardless of whether I was on campus, off-campus, in a fraternity house, etc. With a slight bit of common sense and taking advantage of general safety precautions one can make it through their four years without any incidents, or even worries or such incidents.
