Watch the Midd Kid rap by the AllenSuper BrilliantUndecided
Watch the Midd Kid rap by the Allen Jokers on YouTube. Know that it's not a literal representation of Midd. But if you're not the type of person who can understand the humour in the video, you probably won't fit in here.

Middlebury is an elite school, but not like the ivies, in that we don't have the stuck up superficial type, who only care about bragging about their intellect and the big school name value.

We act like real people, we're not the super nice type that makes you want to puke from flakiness. We're the type you want to be friends with forever. The downside to this is that you graduate after four years and have to deal with people who aren't as fun.

Middlebury has stellar academics, but the best part of Midd is really the people and the whole experience. It's four years of your life, don't make it just about the piece of paper you get at the end that says "BA degree". Middlebury is all you ever wanted and more. (Except when it comes to life outside of the campus. Burlington is an hour away, and it's a pretty small city)

I love this place, but all of it'sBrightUndecided
I love this place, but all of it's outstanding qualities and services come at a price. I am very nervous about approaching graduate school with my student debt and even more nervous about the job market with only an undergraduate degree. But yes, I have a lot of time to figure something out as I am only a freshmen.

Question
Middlebury isn't that bad for minorities. Not so brightLanguage - French/Spanish/etc.
Middlebury isn't that bad for minorities. You have to self-segregate but other than that, no one's going to go out of their way to attack you. It's not that kind of campus. Sure, you'll hear some rude verbal attacks and hear some outrageously racially insensitive opinions in class or in the dining hall, but it's not bad. These things can be expected at a very non-diverse campus such as Middlebury.

Academics are very strong. Chances are that you'll have to write a thesis. This is an excellent opportunity to be exposed to real research before grad school.

This school will offer you a classic college experience. You'll drink, party, study, and have lots of fun. The buildings and surrounding mountains are absolutely awe-inspiring.

However, it gets VERY cold in the winter. Atrociously cold. And you'll get cabin fever because you don't want to go outside because of the cold. Sometimes the heaters in your room don't work. Cold. Cold. Cold. Bring Alaska gear with you. Real talk.

As a minority, I felt uncomfortable but like I said previously, if you seek out other minorities and "outsiders" you'll be fine. I'd still go to Middlebury if I had to do it over again. It made a man out of me!
