Positive Negative Neutral Advice
This is a downright terrible school.Quite BrightFinance
This is a downright terrible school. It is full of grossly incompetent people that should of never been allowed into a university from the beginning. VCU is nothing more than show without substance. Most of these negative comments are absolutely true. The "campus" is more of an idea than anything else as it's intertwined into the disgusting and dilapidated streets of Richmond, VA. Let's not forget the rampant crime that goes on around the VCU campus, but since its an urban "campus" most of such never goes reported to the greater university. Student live in slum like apartments surrounding the campus, and the school itself only cares about ONE thing: more money for staff and administration. And for those comments saying this school is what you make of it, that couldn't be more dishonest and it alone reflects how garbage of an education this place is; i.e. if you go to this school don't expect employers to respect the degree as it is simply considered inferior to more respected schools in the region that produce more desirable graduates. People only go to this school because its the only place they got into, or it's simply a means to get a cheap (and you get what you pay for) degree for commuters. VCU is not anyone's first choice, no matter what anyone will try to tell you. Don't let any rankings fool you for certain programs either, it's generally the same state of incompetence and lack of appropriate funds across the board at this school. And lastly, MCV is not VCU, and people understand the difference between the two. Please, go to any school in Virginia that's not VCU, unless you consider grossness, mediocrity, and guys in skinny jeans a way of life.

Question
Definitely a number factory.Super BrilliantEngineering Department
Definitely a number factory. If you value a quality education do not choose VCU. I am a member of numerous honor societies and expected much more. Atleast have of the teachers there are incompetent. Seems like they would rather you fail so that you have to pay for the class over again. Everyone in logistical and student services is incompetent (eg. they lost my medical records 3 times and blamed it on their mailing system).

Question
So...I have only been at vcu for aboutQuite BrightArt & Design Department
So...I have only been at vcu for about ONE semester and it is the worst decision I have ever made. Okay, so I'm gonna go down the list of cons first then move on to the pros. VCU student body is super arrogant and stupid, I wrote the word "ingenious" on the board and this girl gave me a look and said what does that mean -_- and no she was not foreign. This is also the most White school you will ever go to, even though there is a lot of diversity all the students act so white, its SO annoying! All the kids don't genuinely try to get to know you, they don't care about different personalities or respect and they try to brainwash you into thinking that the way that they all think is the only way to think...meaning all the kids act the SAME so if your different you will be looked at like your a chicken with your head cut off. There is also a strong sense of racial privilege around here, the white adults and kids think they are the sh*t when they are just dumb idiots. The professors try to promote racial sensitivity, but they themselves subtly say and do things that suggest otherwise. They are breeding these white kids to think as them selves as slightly superior to other races.

Moving into moralistic and ethical mannerisms around campus and in Richmond in general. These people literally let you do just about ANYTHING, even though they are just trying to be accepting they are actually being oblivious to serious things that shouldn't be accepted within a community such as: Strong drug usage, women that dress like sluts all over campus, and losing a sense of your own individuality to this monotone culture. The "what's right" and "what's wrong" ratio around here is really HORRIBLE. Since the town is so monotone, people walk around with a look of no purpose, they all like doing the same things, they look like zombies without a soul.

Moving onto campus life.....ummm so to put it in a nutshell: DORMS ARE TOO SMALL, FOOD IS UNHEALTHY, BARELY NO AFFORDABLE PARKING,THERE A LOT OF DOG POOP EVERYWHERE!, NO CONSISTENT RENOVATION, USELESS COURSEWORK IN CLASS,NOT CHALLENGING, LOTS OF MEANINGLESS REQUIRED COURSEWORK, PROFESSORS GRADE UNFAIRLY, PEOPLE ARE RUDE AS HELL, SCHOOL ISN'T WORTH ALL THE MONEY SPENT(FOOD AND TUITION) lastly, THERE ARE HOMELESS PEOPLE EVERYWHERE,AND THE KIDS ARE LOWLIFES.............DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE, GO AND GET YOURSELF AN EDUCATION SOME WHERE WHERE THEY ACCEPT YOUR UNIQUENESS AND BRILLIANCE.
