I'm having the best time of my life here. I'm so glad I made the choice to go to this university.

I got a BLS at UMW after retirement. Not so brightAnthropology
I got a BLS at UMW after retirement. My son received his BS in Biology from UMW before me and was disappointed with the support he received from the education department when working toward a teaching certificate. He will be finishing his 11th year as an Elementary School Teacher. My daughter-in-law received a BA froom UMW before both of us. After some really hard work, and sacrifices by her family, she was awarded a doctorate in 2010 in education administration. My experience with the professors and students is very positive when I compare with my education in the 1950s. In fact it was the encouragement from my educational advisor that provided the catalectic trigger for my educational endeavors now that I am an "old man." I agree with what has been said: you can acquire knowledge at UMW; and then again, you can get a piece of paper to get you in an employer's door--if that's what you want. How long you stay there is up to? your performance? Your kiss-? talents?

In my experience, (2000-2004) Mary Washington provided anPolitical Science
In my experience, (2000-2004) Mary Washington provided an excellent education to motivated individuals. Professors were accessible and intelligent. The size was right for me. Small enough to form a community of people you know. Large enough so that it isn't like high school. Fredericksburg is a great little town, if you take the time to get to know it. Complaints about a lack of a social scene (which were present during my time there) fall on deaf ears. Join a club...there's hundreds. Go to a bar...there's a dozen downtown. In my experience, a well rounded college education prepares you for the rest of life's travails. Don't be too concerned about the "reputation" of the school. I don't think a single employer has ever cared whether I went to MWC, UVA or Harvard. If you're smart and you work hard, you'll be fine.
