A lot of people go off to collegeQuite BrightArt & Design Department
A lot of people go off to college expecting a sex and drug buffet. For better or worse, UMW is not one. Although lacking a big party scene, the school and area offer plenty of opportunities for students to make their own good time. The faculty is overwhelmingly excellent as is the campus. Although it still isn't well known, it's climbing and big things are on the horizon.

I loved this school,Political Science
I loved this school, certainly not every minute, but overall I couldn't have wished for anything better. If you want to study liberal arts in Virginia this should be your top pick. This school and my internshhips through the school prepared me intellectually and socially for the real world.

In my experience, (2000-2004) Mary Washington provided an excellent education to motivated individuals. Professors were accessible and intelligent. The size was right for me. Small enough to form a community of people you know. Large enough so that it isn't like high school. Fredericksburg is a great little town, if you take the time to get to know it. Complaints about a lack of a social scene (which were present during my time there) fall on deaf ears. Join a club...there's hundreds. Go to a bar...there's a dozen downtown. In my experience, a well rounded college education prepares you for the rest of life's travails. Don't be too concerned about the "reputation" of the school. I don't think a single employer has ever cared whether I went to MWC, UVA or Harvard. If you're smart and you work hard, you'll be fine.
