Texas A&M is a fun state college inBrightEngineering Department
Texas A&M is a fun state college in a town that supports the university. If you love football and traditions, its a good choice. Unfortunately while they act like they help students even though they are a very large university...they really don't. Engineering is one of their premier majors yet the they don't have enough qualified tutors in the higher level classes beyond the basic intro stuff. Their professors aren't that good and classes can be large. It's also very difficult to get into classes. Their tuition is reasonable while on campus but they put a high cost on distance learning. If you need one class in the summer and you are not in college station, they will charge you a $670 fee and then another $1620 fee in addition to tuition! They like to get you on fees. Their study abroad has good opportunities but very expensive with an example $3600 administrative fee (on top of tuition and other university fees). The big issue is that the courses are challenging because some of the professors are poor teachers and the curriculum is difficult (as one would expect with engineering)and if you don't get a C you have to retake it. I would probably not choose Texas A&M again. The people are friendly but the administrative services - like student business services and housing are bureaucratic.

Question
I chose to come here due to theAverageOther
I chose to come here due to the fact that I'm quite conservative and I value tradition, academics, friendly people, and religion. The girls here are ridiculously attractive and friendly. It's fantastic. If you're a liberal here, you should have no problem making friends, especially if you're in a liberal arts major. But if you want to be surrounded by liberal students and faculty, I suggest picking another university campus. Oh also, there's LOADS of student clubs and organizations to be a part of.

The school does an excellent job in connecting students with employers and job opportunities in many non-liberal arts degrees.

GO HERE! Do not go here if you're super liberal. Although, I know super liberal students who love this school just as much as me. It really depends on the individual. I LOVE THIS SCHOOL.

Question
This is not a place for a liberal-mindedQuite BrightOther
This is not a place for a liberal-minded person to flourish or develop as an individual. Sexism and racism were all to common. 2.5 years into my degree, I left because I didn't have a friend who didn't worship Donald Trump. I was disturbed and I left the school for that reason. As a female engineering student, my male peers had no respect for me. I was ignored during group activities which hindered my learning experience - especially during robotics and computer programming projects. I felt uncomfortable with the lack of diversity. In a classroom of 200 people I could spot one or two black people (guaranteed to be male). Everyone was kind outwardly, but if anyone would venture on to the anonymous social media app, Yik Yak, he would find true racism and disregard for respect of anyone other than a white male.

Any of my friends in organizations were subject to hazing, including those in the Corp of Cadets. On the other hand, I was challenged and given many opportunities as a student at A&M. My professors were great, and usually foreign which brought an international perspective to my education.
