I transferred out of the University of Pittsburgh.Quite Bright
I transferred out of the University of Pittsburgh... it was a tough decision, but one that needed to be made. First off, the climate is terrible. I forgot the sun existed while at school. Most students fall into a deep depression during the winter (which lasts for a while), and never come out of that depression because the clouds continue to dump rain and block the warmth and happiness of the sun. anyone that says their school has bad weather is lying... boston, eastern pa, ny state cannot compare to the cloudy days of pittsburgh. second, the city of pittsburgh is unsafe, crime ridden, dirty, but a big improvement from the past. the students are you're typical homebody pennsylvanians (pa sucks, might i add), but friends i made my first year were good friends and i continue to keep in touch which them now that i've transferred. and of course, third, the school itself isn't that great. pitt is renowned for its grad schools (med, rehab sci, law, public health, etc.). pitt is not renowned for its undergrad. and for good reason. overall, ive made good friends, but friends should not be the only reason to attend a college. good luck to you all who search for the right school.

Terrible boring school. Coursework is not challenging, professors are self-absorbed, students only care about drinking.

Question
This school was a waste of my timeSuper BrilliantHistory/Histories (art history/etc.)
This school was a waste of my time and money. I worked very hard, and was quite successful, but I found my whole experience at Pitt to be disheartening. They spend oodles of money in pro-Pitt propaganda, to attract students, and forget about the ones that they already have. There are virtually NO merit-based scholarships for students who succeed academically. This year they are running a $1 Billion campaign to raise funds for the university, but as a student, I have NO idea where that money will go. I can guess though--maybe 50% to recruit new students, another 30% to fix up the buildings that students will see on their campus tours, 10% to the Chancellor's salary, and another 10% fighting lawsuits from their underpaid cafeteria staff. I had a miserable time here. The students keep pretty much to their own little cliques. It's the only time that I honestly wish that some parent would have asked me what I thought of Pitt while they were taking the tour of the school. DON'T DO IT!!!
