Antioch college is a feminist college.Education
Antioch college is a feminist college. There curriculum is systematically designed for women and girls in education. The public education system is suffering because boys don't fit into the feminist model offered at Antioch College. The ideology is strict with ideas like "competition among students is wrong". If you're a male I recommend a public state college or UC college where more than one philosophy is accepted.

Question
My lure to Antioch was its Cooperative WorkBrightOther
My lure to Antioch was its Cooperative Work Study Program, a relatively new concept in the mid to late 70's .

As is often the case however, the grass is always greener on the other side. As a 1st year and even as a 2nd year, the choices for work study positions was limited. If you were not into travelling to different parts of the country, you probably wouldn't be too pleased with the program.

Being somewhat in the middle of the road politically, I quickly discovered that I was looked at right wing republican in a room of ultra liberal democrats (in reality at the time I was a democrat). It didn't take long to see that if you weren't far to the left, you opinion was not welcome.

On the positive side, Yellow Springs is a very quiet area in rural Ohio and the townies were friendly. Antioch also forced me to grow up quick and in a hurry; likely much faster than if I attended one of the other schools I was accepted to. There were also one or two very accomplished professors that I had the pleasure to take a course from.

In addition, Antioch has produced some notible individuals like Coretta Scott King, Rod Serling, and Stephen Jay Gould. All in all however, If I had to do it again, knowing what I do now, I would defintely have gone somewhere else.

Question
I attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OHQuite BrightUndecided
I attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH in 1989. The place was 3rd world in its decay, and had only 200 of the most disaffected, many actively psychotic and drug addicted young people I ever encountered. My single term at Antioch was so disappointing, discouraging and stressful, that it took two years of therapy with medication for me to find a healthy outlook on life. The professors were bottom feeders, there was no active intellectual life of any kind at Antioch, not even a pulse. I had a much more positive experience back at my local, rural, community college in all respects. Antioch deserves to be closed, and hopefully as its rather a con game/scam - I sincerely hope it stays closed forever and its facilities are put to some actual use besides acting as a dismal kindergarten for middle class drug addicts. And, actually, the Dean of Students WAS spying on me and he was very harsh and rude to me over a minor incident involving a bad breakup I had with a female I met at Antioch. This dean actually threatened me with arrest and told me he would "have all your possessions left on Antioch property destroyed and you yourself arrested and escorted off University property."
