I just don't understand people that like RIT.Quite BrightSchool of Information
I just don't understand people that like RIT. I don't know what they like about? Brick city? ugly girls? boring city? Weather? ignorant faculty members? Terrible on-campus apartments? mouse hole dorms? DAMN QUARTER SYSTEM?

I mean come on? i think i made a huge mistake to transfer to RIT. I have read articles on this website before i transferred here and i was thinking that it should not be too bad. Are you freaking kidding me ? This university is designed to take 4-5 years out of your life. I am not Joking. Some people referred it is what you make out of it, that is completely BS. Quality of education? You must be kidding me ? I have to learn everything myself, do you think i can get all those labs done with the help of stupid PowerPoints?

I go to class, instructor shows PowerPoints, and i go to lab and write a lab report and done. Do you think he deserves his salary ? My instructor comes to class drinks his coffee and reads from slides and i complete labs. Some of you might say right now, so why the hell are you doing in RIT then? because i moved here and i can not go back bec of financial reasons.Otherwise i would be gone long long time ago believe me.

Parties? I mean sausage festivals ? yeah just attend one of them you will know what i am talking about. Sport clubs, how the hell i am gonna find time to play sports with this busy schedule? I bough a $100 book 700 pages and instructor only goes 200 pages in 10 weeks quarter, so why i paid that money for 200 pages? i don't know, i was told to do so. Some people referred about co-op :) What if i don't want to go to co-op? let me graduate and find a job myself? Let me get the hell out of RIT and then find a job myself, and put my diploma that i had co-op and i did not have co-op. So what ? Bottom line is, i don't like RIT at all, some courses are fun but overall don't come to this school to be miserable for 4-5 years in your life. Go to different school and enjoy your life. You will only live this life once, and enjoy every single minute of it.

Question
RIT is not for everyone.Quite BrightComputer Science
RIT is not for everyone. Unfortunately, the school that is portrayed on their website, and even during tours, is completely different from the school that you actually attend. I find myself bored in classes, and even in the classes where the material is new, the teachers basically leave you to learn it on your own. Very often the equipment is not up to the standards required for a particular lab. Personally, if you know something about your major, you will be bored, because you are forced to take mundane classes and the professors don't care what you know. On the other hand, if you don't know much about your major, you will either be fascinated by what you learn, or completely lost because the professors are unclear. Overall I would say that I am very disappointed at my choice of school. It was nothing like I thought it was going to be, and even my major isn't what I thought it was going to be.

Question
Though I've met a lot of really greatBrightMechanical Engineering
Though I've met a lot of really great friends and had a lot of fun so far, I think that attending RIT was a bad decision. I'm sure you've heard all of the rumors about a strong presence of warcraft addicts that don't even bother to shower or leave class. Well, there is a surprising amount of truth to that rumor...many kids on my floor play video games at least twelve hours a day, and certain sections of my hall smell terrible because these people can't even find the time to shower. I think the reason that this is so common is that RIT offers almost nothing to do outside of class.

There is no football team.
There are no (good) parties.
There are roughly five attractive girls on campus.
Speaking of parties, if you do manage to find one, usually in the colony manor or park point apartments, it will be mostly guys and will probably be broken up by campus safety at some point.

As if that isn't bad enough, RIT doesn't really even offer strong academics to make up for the quality of life. Most freshman level classes are taught by random faculty who don't care about the subject or the students. All of my major specific classes are extremely slow paced and boring while my core credits are very challenging. Small classes do nothing to improve your education...professors don't care about their students at all and they do little to hide it. Also, all of those "open for students" labs look great on the tour, but try to use a computer sometime and let me know how it works out for you. Even when I have class in the labs, there aren't enough computers for everyone.

Some tips:
-If you know anyone from high school ROOM WITH THEM, don't risk getting a WoW addict
-Make friends at nearby University of Rochester- they have actual parties and girls
-When choosing a meal plan, get the one with the fewest gracies meals and the most debit possible. Gracie's is even worse than the rest of the food here, which also really sucks

-Find out about your professors before you register for a class... there are some REALLY bad professors here

-Dorms are about ten square feet so don't bring much stuff
-This place is every bit as weird as people make it seem
