I have taken classesQuite BrightMath
I have taken classes at an ivy league institution and they were a joke compared to RIT. I am getting a great education and not paying 40 g's a year. Fantastic education for the money!

Question
First and foremost you will only come toQuite BrightPhysics
First and foremost you will only come to this school to learn. If you want a segway to lots of good experiences and almost gauranteed shot at a decent to high paying job (micro electrical engineering anyone?). Than come here. If you want to slack off, find easy classes, and spend all of your time drinking and partying. Then don't bother. This place will consume you, and you won't have enough money to go to another school.

It is far from a perfect school. The faculty is good, and really wants their students to learn, but the administration is about as deaf as 10% of the student body (who actually are deaf). They do spend money on research (which leads to in school internships), and they'll help you get tons of real world experience before you graduate, but they also finance abunch of usless construction projexts made to make the university look pretty.

Unforunately their efforts are depatably forsaken. Now I love the scenery actually. I don't appreciate the fact that it's in a swamp, but the red brick makes it very modern. In addition, there are lot's of different sculptures dotting the campus. Still some people hate the brick, hate the sculptures (Especially the sentinel), and abhor the weather. But it if you like it cold then come. It would be advisable to visit first, just to get a feel.

Of course that is no substitute for actually spending time here, and trying to make freinds. Something I actually find is very easy. The student body is very varied, whether it means you will find a bunch of people you love or hate is up to you. I gaurantee you will hook up with people that have similar interests, but it's dealing with the rest that is tough. I think in the end this is a universe that definately puts you through your paces. It has no remorse and really tests the person you will to be. While there are some programs that RIT is top at ( Com-sci, Engineering, Micro-E) those are it. Unless you're local , can't get into any other school, or are obsessed with anime (this RIT anime club is the biggest in the nation) there are better schools. But if you're confident in yourself, or even want to see if you can change. Then don't hesitate.

Question
On a bad note, RIT treats you likeQuite BrightOther
On a bad note, RIT treats you like a number. There is never enough space and they spend your money on sidewalks, etc. instead of building more dorms (we're overcrowded as it is). Don't believe the lie that you are guaranteed a dorm. They will give you one..but it may a kitchen with 4 other people...I'm not kidding. However, the quality of education is excellent though and you'll make a lot of friends here. You'll work your butt off but you'll come out a better person and student for coming here. I met most of my good friends here and got involved in some extracurriculars so I met many different kinds of people. I used to be an introvert but RIT has helped me change that. I like it here. (I also escaped the horrors of dormland by transferring from community college...I would recommend that route).
