In response to the comment below: i went to high school in new york city and subsequently attended NYU. I have absolutely loved my first year at NYU. The reason why i chose NYU was because i couldnt see myself at a traditional campus school. I have such a love for new york city, being raised here and everything, that I really wanted to stay in the city. It really depends in your situation. Ask yourself, are you sick of new york or do you love it and wouldnt mind staying another 4 years? Coming to NYU was the best decision I ever made. I'm close to home but worlds away, I get to party in the best part of new york (the village) and live the urban dream. If you are kinda sick of new york but love urban living i would suggest looking at other options like BU, GWU, Emerson, etc.

I've only been here for two weeks, but I already love it. The profs are easy to talk to and make themselves available for comment. As a freshman I am already getting experience in the field I hope to work in. Great school!! Everyone says that NYU is out to get your money, but I'm here on an almost full paid scholarship and I'm paying for the rest myself with work-study and loans. So quit bitching, grow up, and realize what a fantastic university NYU is.

Question
NYU, like New York City, isn't for everyone,Public Policy
NYU, like New York City, isn't for everyone, so don't choose a school based solely on a ranking, only to complain about what you don't like about it (I heard this mostly from undergrads). I went to an excellent, small undergrad and enjoyed it; I needed that when I was younger. I went to two large research grad schools and loved them for their resources and their reputations. The policy program at NYU Wagner helped me the most professionally, because through it I gained the confidence to do an array of professional tasks, and apply for jobs or work I would not have before grad school. I got sound, practical research-focused classes combined with analysis of, and recommendations for, real issues. If you go to grad school with a plan for what you want to get out of it, you will be much happier.
