The bureaucracy is too huge and the school is too impersonal. Seriously consider going to a smaller school!

The education I received at UNC-CH was ofHistory/Histories (art history/etc.)
The education I received at UNC-CH was of very poor quality. My classes were far too large, and teaching assistants do far too much of the teaching. Professors here truly don't care about students at all -- everything revolves around research. The bureaucracy is huge and frustrating, and too much money is invested in things like posh internet lounges instead of improving the quality of undergraduate instruction. The political climate is hyper-liberal, and there is almost no tolerance for the conservative, or even moderate, viewpoint. Professors are obsessed with ultra-political-correctness and left-wing academic jargon, and things like "how post-colonial discourses and methodologies have shaped and engendered primorial idenitites and a trans-national perception of self and sexuality." In other words, nonsense and rubbish. Too much time is wasted on pseudo-academic work that has no redeeming value or use whatsoever. Out-of-staters beware --this is not some "public ivy," it is just a state school whose prestige is declining drastically, and which regards undergraduates as cash cows, not human beings. The current chancellor exemplifies the spirit of total indifference to anything having to do with undergraduate education. Don't go here! You will regret it! Unless, of course, you enjoy being treated like a number...

Question
Attending the University of North Carolina was withoutSuper BrilliantHistory/Histories (art history/etc.)
Attending the University of North Carolina was without a doubt the worst experience of my life. Despite its prestige, the school is a terrible place for undergraduates. The faculty couldn't care less about their students, and graduate assistants do far too much of the teaching. Many of the students are depressed because they're very smart, yet are frustrated because the professors don't give a darn about them. Even upper level classes are huge, and ist likely that whe you graduate, only a handful of prefessors will know your name. UNC is a very inexpensive school, but you get what you pay for -- and the quality of undergradute education here is terrible. My friends and I used to call this place the "Factory" because of the way students are treated. If you are out of state, I advise you not to come here -- you'll just be getting the same mediocre public-university education that you could get back home at State U.
