Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I hated this school.Quite BrightPhilosophy
I hated this school. Being from NC, perhaps I was expecting something close to heaven from the way everyone talked about it, and maybe this was the problem. There is sooo much racism, I'm a white female and I'm even disturbed by it. Everyone thinks they're god's gift to humanity, which is far from the truth. The campus is pretty, and the philosophy dept is good, but I'm transferring. Plus, people are are not interesting at all. Its next to impossible to get good seats at sports games.

The dorms kind of suck, even though the campus is pretty. Also, the weather is usually nice.
I feel like this school is just a huge diploma factory, and the problem is they refuse to admit it. They give off this aura of a tight-knit community but when you get here you realize it's nothing like that.plus the parties kind of suck. everyone is always throwing up everywhere. ew.

Question
My goal in this comment isn't to discourageBrightSociology
My goal in this comment isn't to discourage people who are right for carolina from coming to this school. I just want to inform the students who may think they are perfect for this school and be sadly disappointed. The prestige of Carolina is unbelievable, especially in NC. So what you here about it may not entirely be the truth and I think it is fair to let prospective students know this school is not what it seems. You will be treated as a number, as if you do not matter, and in all honesty, you don't matter to the administration here. If you are pre-med do not go to this school, the competition is too fierce for you to get a quality education in any popular science like bio or chem. These departments are ridiculously impersonal so spare yourself the heartbreak and go to a school that will focus on your success as a student and get the attention you need. Trust me you want to be treated like you matter more importantly you deserve it after the money you spend. Don't fall for all those organizations we offer either. What they don't tell you is most of our intro courses weed you out by being huge and cramming 3 classes into one. So you won't have time to enjoy these gems if you are studying like they make you at this school. At least not for your first 2 years. But there is a silver lining the people here are great, socially I have never felt more at home. So if you know what field you want to pursue...do yourself a favor and don't go to this school unless you don't mind giving that dream up and meeting great people in return.

Question
First I must say that this nation willQuite BrightNursing
First I must say that this nation will one day have a gay uprising/rebellion and it will begin at UNC-CH. We had an entire gay/lesbian week, AND students pay to support the gay/lesbian center OUT OF THEIR TUITION!!!!!!! Secondly this school is very challenging, but over-rated. I feel like all I do is work, church and school. If you call my dorm room on a Friday or Saturday night I will most likely be there to answer. There is NOTHING to do but get drunk and high, AND THAT ISH DOESNT FLOAT MY BOAT, even though some of the students that smoke weed every weekend have higher grades than the students who do not (go figure). And the racial tension is ridiculous. It wouldn't bother me as much if there were only a lot of people who were "intentionally" ignorant/racist, but there are more people who do not understand that they are racist. One girl said to me "You're one of the nice, pretty black people", Why the hell would you say that? And she really didn't see anything wrong with her statement. Also for Halloween a white guy dressed up as a "black person" as he said, and he had the nappiest damn afro he could find, painted brown over his skin and everything. And get this... HE DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT (or maybe he was just "trying" to be funny). Anyways, some of the people are snooty and stuck up and lots of people are phony. Watch who you associate yourself with...better yet WATCH YOURSELF AT ANOTHER SCHOOL!. Some professors will help you and some won't, but NONE of them will baby you like in high school, and I guess that's a good thing but it would be even better if more of them knew how to speak English. And don't expect to see real professors in beginners courses unless you plan to visit their office hours...because the majority of classes have Teacher's Assistants (that is graduate students who care more about their research than you) as the instructors. GOOD LUCK!!!!
