I'm a journalism major here, and I feelAverageJournalism
I'm a journalism major here, and I feel like coming to school here for that was a mistake. I use to enjoy what I did and now I feel like I'm being forced to do it. I didn't get a syllabus for one quarter until we were three weeks into the quarter. I feel like in the freshman level classes, there is a lot of required busy-work, that you are expected to do outside of class, never mind the other classes you may be taking. I'm considering either changing my major and staying here and giving this university another shot, or changing my major and completely transferring schools. If you are a journalism major and absolutely love what you do, I would not recommend coming to school here for that. I have nothing against the other subjects. It's a good university, the Greek life is amazing, there are just some things that aren't as organized as they need to be.

Horribly narrow-minded student body, reactionary conservative professors, located in the ugliest, most boring and culturally bankrupt town in America. This is strictly a girls' basketball school. The coursework is an extension of high school, i.e. lots of multiple choice and regurgitation of facts. I hated it here, transferred to LSU and the difference was unbelievable. LSU is the best school in the state, and one of the coolest in the country.

Question
In all of the 5 years I spentBrightMechanical Engineering
In all of the 5 years I spent at Tech, I never met more than 5 person who was not a hard core conservative. I have not demanding any body to be liberal. They hated and used n-words for Obama with a passion for no reason. Over 70% of students are hunters and wear hunting attires to school during the season. (I am brown(with very fair skin) with dark hair). In all these years, I never had a real white or black fiend because everybody has their own groups. One time you would interact with people from other races is when you absolutely had to like in group projects. I never enjoyed the town. Boring as crazy. Nothing to do. Three of my friends on different occasions were either served last or called racial slurs at the bar most frequented by students (dawghouse). So go out and about was never really fun because you always had this feeling of being an outsider on that town. Besides there is nothing to do anyway.

I would not say all of them but based on my personal experience ( I am an A student in all my classes), about 30% are racist. (the rest are fine) I never play the race card but you could clearly feel the subtle hint in many occasions . So I never ever felt like I belonged to that place Although I found only a minority of professors were racist, almost all of them were not very friendly towards students. Normal non academic conversations , going out to eat or for movies, inviting professors for BBQ, etc. were unheard of. No body, no body does that at Tech. Professors are the King and they rule. The staffs in many departments are so rude and unfriendly (to anybody) that you will be surprised how they can be so evil. School never cares about if you find a job once you graduate or not. To this day, (graduated with 3.8 GPA in Nanosystems in late 2010.) I have not had a single person contact me concerning my status or employment or anything like that other than the promotional letter from the alumni association that wanted to know where I was working and not about if I got a job or not. There is no job placement program at Tech and they don't care.

There is no payment deferment system at Tech and you have to pay everything at once before the class stars and that's it. No option of multiple payments, deferment, etc.

In all five years, I never got to see the president other than the games and teh graduation ceremony. Only student related event that I know the president attends is the one organized by a ministry(Mid night madness). Every other invitation(from any organization) falls in deaf ears.

There is virtually no coordination between different departments and you personally have to go building after building as there is very primitive computer systems which requires most of the things to be done n paper and transported to different departments in person.
