The helpfulness level falls into frustration most of the time. The administration building, Sparks Hall, will give you the run around no matter what you are trying to accomplish. I have never had a positive experience dealing with the people in that building and trust me when I say I have been in there MANY times only to be bent over backwards before accomplishing anything.

The campus is pretty, but don't pick this school because it is pretty. Yes, it does make one feel better seeing flowers everywhere. But one should not base their selection of a college education on how pretty a campus looks.

The nightlife and party scene is undoubtably among the least attractive in the nation. Imagine a 20 minute drive to purchase beer or a 40 minute drive to the nearest liquor store. Imagine. There are a handful of 'restaraunts' in town that serve alcohol, but according to city laws have closed in patios with walls surrounding them and are unable to serve any beverages after midnight. Yes, all of the places to buy a drink in town close at midnight.

The layout of the campus is good and bad. You can walk everywhere on campus, a good thing. If you live off campus, you have to hike some to get to campus.

If I had the chance to go back and choose another college, knowing what I do about this one, I would choose anywhere else in a heartbeat. One of the main reasons exclusively is the curriculum and roadblocks of my major. MSU offers small class sizes which were inadequate to hold the students trying to get into class. For my major, at least, I have had to wait for 3 or 4 classes that are only offered half of the year and the other half of the year I could not fit into the small class size. Most upper level classes that are full only offer 1 section of class. If I were attending a larger school, which offered many more opportunities to take classes, I would not be stuck spending an extra year at this school.

MSU is a comparatively cheap school. My opinion, you get what you pay for: a close minded, conservative, middle of nowhere, expect delays, unhelpful, frustrating, clean, pretty, and quiet town education. If you choose to come here, befriend an upperclassman in your major and consult your advisor immediately so that you can graduate ASAP. And don't let Sparks Hall give you any bullshit, ever.

Coming for Chicago i thought that murray was the best school in the world. In less than 2 weeks in the school year i hated the town. There is nothing to do. If you are not a frat you have no night life. The school is nice, but the town is in the middle of no where. Do not attend murray if you live the big city like i do. If you like the small town small minded south than murray is the place for you.

I was a transfer student that came to Murray State to change things up. It was undoubtedly the worst mistake I have every made.

The quality of education that you receive is very low. I transferred from an Honors college and had a high GPA before I came here and I legitimately feel as if I have lost intelligence. I honestly learned more in highschool than in most classes. The professors also feel they are infallible. Murray State also, cares very little about their students. The way you get run around by administration, the little class sizes, the not offering classes very often, and the ridiculous policies make it very difficult to graduate on time and you will pay a fee for everything. Besides that, if you have a physical disability do not come here!!!!! I have a physical disability, I received letters from doctors saying that I would need reasonable accommodations. I was told that my accommodations were too much because it went against the attendance policy, which is you can miss three days, after three days your grade begins to drop. This effected me greatly! The accommodation I requested was to have a greater number than three because I get very sick sometimes often, sometimes I am completely fine. The disability services were very rude to me and even with doctors notes would not honor my request. The disability I have is recognized by the American's with Disability Act. They truly ruined my experience here, my educational record, and quite possibly my life because of my grades suffering from my disability, it will be very difficult for me to pursue my dreams. Do not make the mistake that I did. Do not attend this University. Sure its a nice town and a beautiful campus, but their policies across the board are ridiculous and they honestly care nothing about your education, only the money in your pockets.
