INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS program really is a joke atQuite BrightPolitical Science
INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS program really is a joke at FSU. The interdis. courses that are provided do not hold up at all to other reputable programs at other universities. Don't come to FSU and actually think you are going to great an international perspective on things. For grad. school I am heading north to study at a university that is worth something, reguarding IA. TALLAHASSEE SOCIAL LIFE: top of the line, always something to do, great drink specials everynight of the week, other students are great, really is a nice atmosphere to go to school. Other programs at FSU I will certainly say are top of the line, accounting, law, business, hospitality, ect, NOT I.A.

Question
I graduated from the College of Human SciencesOther
I graduated from the College of Human Sciences with a BS degree in Fashion Design in 1991... The department during the time of my coursework was very old-fashioned. The teachers had been there so long one wondered if they even knew or cared about opening their eyes to modernizing the classrooms and courses. I didn't feel as though I'd been taught fashion design so much as how to be a seamstress. While the merchandizing track offered students internships, there was absolutely zero career guidance or opportunities for the design students. I felt useless when I came out of there, although I felt I'd learned a lot in my other areas of study. On a positive note, CAD was just coming into the fashion program during my last semester. While I did not have an opportunity to take advantage of the new computers, it was a step in the right direction for the college. In general, I enjoyed my 4 years at FSU -- it was an old-fashioned university on a beautiful campus, and there were improvements being made in small doses all around. The football was great, the circus was fun... I have not been back since graduation.

Question
I graduated from FSU December 2002.Computer Science
I graduated from FSU December 2002. Since then I joined the military as an officer, was injured and discharged, then got a good job as a sysadmin. FSU was a very fun school, your average large state school. The coursework was challenging, but not overly challenging. It did not give me enough real world experience and most of what I learned did not help me find a job. It served me better in gaining an audience (combined with my short military experience) with companies to show that I was able to add some value to their company.

As stated above, FSU did a poor job of preparing me for the job market. I did not know enough applicable job skills for my particular field. If I could do it again, I would've still gone to FSU for my degree, but I would've made an effort to get extra education outside of FSU (professional certification courses). Those were not available when I was at FSU. For the HS students, if you are looking for a fun place to party, FSU is a good school. I had a lot of good, somewhat crazy, times there. If you are looking for a respectable university that will help you in the real world, FSU will do that too. FSU is not MIT, but they aren't a mail order university either. Overall: B.
