Chapman is a social school.Quite BrightBusiness - Management and Administration
Chapman is a social school. What I mean by that is if you are shy and self-conscious you may not feel you fit in. The people here are very nice but you need to take initiative and talk to them. Do not expect them to come to you once orientation is over. Once you get in the "social system" it's great. I have found the peeps here to be extremely friendly and fun. No big surprise with so much to do on campus, the surrounding town and nearby cities. Basically, you just need to take advantage of everything the school and southern California has to offer. The cafeteria food is okay; The soup and salad bar is consistantly good. The daily specials are a gamble. Living in the dorms has been a lot of fun, and it's a relief not having to share a bathroom with the entire floor like most other schools. As for the academics, I have been very pleased. The administration has been able to get me in every class I wanted and works with me if I need to drop or add classes. They also are willing to meet with me whenever I want to discuss individual class progress and to career-council me. The classes are small and, for the most part, interesting, and the coursework is a lot but not overwhelming. If you budget your time fairly well you will have plenty of opportunities to go to Disneyland--it seems like the entire student body has a season pass!

Question
I feel like my Chapman degree is appreciatingBusiness - Management and Administration
I feel like my Chapman degree is appreciating in value. When I first attended in 1997, no one had even heard of it, yet today, I rarely meet someone who hasn't. To my knowledge, Chapman is quickly growing into one of the country's most reputable private schools.

I'd say the biggest benefit to attending Chapman is its location, in the heart of Southern Cal. The beach, Hollywood, Los Angeles, Disney World etc. provide endless entertainment. But more importantly, countless opportunities exist for internships and networking in a variety of industries/professions. The opportunities are drastically different than what can be found at many colleges that are the focal point of their town/economy.

I have few complaints about the school, but would mention a couple things to consider...
1) The sports programs are not enthusiastically embraced or supported by non-athlete students. If you seek school spirit or group outtings at the weekly ball game, you'll have to follow UCLA or USC athletics.

2) As business major, I was not impressed with Chapman's recruitment program prior to graduation. It may have improved in the past few years, but my general impression in 2001 was that most companies with positions/training programs specially related to college undergraduates were not persuing Chapman students.

Overall, I really value my time at Chapman - I left with a lot of great memories and wonderful experiences. If I had to do it all over again, I'd choose to go there in a heartbeat.

Question
I would have to say that I’m notQuite BrightVideo/Media
I would have to say that I’m not very satisfied with Chapman. Although everyone in the world seems to think it’s a “great school”, it pretty much sucks. When I thought of college, I thought of a place to meet people and enjoy myself. Thus far I can’t say I’ve enjoyed myself or met people. The vast majority of students seem to think they are “better” than the rest of the world. Additionally, they girls here are like nothing I’ve ever seen. Ya, they are attractive, but they are stuck-up, self centered, or unattractive all together. The film department isn’t that bad, but it doesn’t teach much. The requirements are outrageous, and they lock you into taking all kinds of pointless classes. I think this school is all about PR, they just want to look good. They spend a ton of money on image and seem to ignore the students all together. Overall, I’m not too satisfied with this school, but in two years I’m out of here and that will be a great day!
