The accounting program atAccounting
The accounting program at the UAB school of business is top notch! The passage rate for the CPA exam is higher than all of the other state schools and employers are just waiting to get you on board.

Question
UAB has really transformed itself.Quite BrightBiology
UAB has really transformed itself. While the campus has a much more traditional feel than has been the case in the past, UAB is still very much an urban university which sets it apart from many of the other large public universities.

Extracurricular activities and overall social life at UAB is more than sufficient for most. However, if you're looking only to party and just slide by easily in academics, UAB isn't the place for you. Moreso than many public schools, UAB has a student body full of people that are very committed to getting a degree and moving into the real world. Most of the majors at UAB follow a pretty challenging path, but the reward of a UAB degree definitely makes the effort worth it.

In regards to sports, men's basketball is probably one of the most popular and successful of all athletic programs at UAB. UAB didn't field a football team until fairly recently in the grand scheme of things, but the football program has done some amazing things in the short time it's existed. All in all, UAB is a great school with an exceptional academic reputation and a growing campus life. I have visited many of the bigger public institutions in the Southeast, and I have to say that I have no regrets about my decision to attend UAB.

Question
I have been very pleased with my educationBrightBusiness - Management and Administration
I have been very pleased with my education at UAB. I am an older student (33) and returned to school to finally complete my undergrad. I am an Industrial Distribution major in the school of business. I have attended seven colleges in my academic career and UAB is probably my favorite or at least top two. The faculty in the school of business are generally very friendly and helpful. I have been very impressed by the approachability of most of the business professors. The quality of the education is good as well. I have worked in the corporate world for 12 years or so and the concepts you learn in class are very applicable to the real world. Many of the professors also have real world experience or have part-time consulting experience. The students are also friendly. I didn't take much of my core courses at UAB so I can really only speak to how good the school of business is. There are also a lot of extracurricular activities going on if you know where to look (check on Kaleidoscope, the student newspaper, and students.uab.edu to find out what's going on).

Safety is a concern since UAB is an urban campus. Generally the campus is well lit and there are emergency phones all over the place. The campus police patrol frequently and they have a free service that will come escort you to another part of the campus if needed.

The only negative I can come up with is parking is a little tight in some areas of the campus but generally I have seen worse parking situations at other schools. You just have to plan on getting to class a little early in case you have to walk a couple of blocks.Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
