Please keep in mind that University of Michigan is a big school. The people making comments such as "it's impossible to make friends here no one is friendly" would find that at any other large school. The only way to make friends here is to involve yourself in some sort of organization that allows you to become part of a smaller community. The classes are difficult. Calculus was nothing like college calculus and you will have many sleepless nights (just like at any college). Many professors do not speak perfect English, but it is still manageable. If you want the college spirit and pride of your university, come here. I personally think this is the greatest college town and campus possible, it is a beautiful area with a beautiful campus and endless restaurants and things to do. You will not be bored. However, as far as parties go for freshmen, there is a very large divide between Greeks and non greeks. I am in Greek life and there tends to be a lot of judgment among frats and sororities. However, by junior year the involvement with greek life and frat parties die out. My experience here has not been what I expected it to be, but it is not the school's fault. College is a new transition and it involves putting yourself out there, so anyone who claims University of Michigan caused them to have no friends actually needs to work on their own problems rather than criticizing the university. It is a great college (but very cold). Get a jacket.
