Earlham helped develop critical thinking skills. The ability to come into a new situation and size it up and see problems and find solutions. It is important to understand what Earlham offers, and make sure it is what you want as as student. The social and ethical framework it offers is as important as the academics. The idea is that you will leave and make a positive contribution to the world. This is not a political or religious statement, but rather that you will be judged by your peers and will judge yourself not by how much money you made (especially if not ethically) or how successful you were (especially if success was gained by hurting others) but you will judge your success by how you improved the world, it big ways or small ways. You will also get a good education if you take advantage of what it offers.
