If your looking for a party like you get at sub-par schools please go elsewhere, that much is true. But what UMBC offers outside of that is an excellent adacdemic grounding one rarely sees at such a school of this size. The campus is very close and you are forced to find something to do on campus, as transportation is not that extensive to other places like Baltimore city which I like. UMBC is an excellent university for all that it offers to its students, and one really has to try hear to have a life outside of life in the library. No loud-mouthed chicks acting like wild animals, drunks are a rarity, and intelligent students are the best and only reason UMBC has the reputation it does, smart people are attracted to eachother, common sense. If you think this is a joke, think again. So many of the people I know who went to HBCUs or places like Frostburg can't handle the work here, and they drop out, because they weren't prepared to learn at this level. All in all, come to this school if you want to learn and grow, but they better be prepared for a real challenge, this place will kick you butt!
