Major: (This Major's Salary over time)
I transferred my first year because I was very disappointed that after 3 years studying languages I'd learnt nothing. The last straw was the Study Abroad program I did through UDel which was a joke. The little I got out of it was IN SPITE of the program, not because of it. We were placed in an isolated building and not integrated in the least with any locals (and at weekends we had obligatory excursions --in English, and again, exclusively for UDel students-- which were nice for tourism purposes but NOT what I paid money for). Aside from Study Abroad, the language courses at UD proper were also a joke. The advanced courses have names that suggest you're going to get something of substance out of them, which is why I stuck around for 3 years, only to find they were just glorified grammar/composition courses with literary or scientific themes to them. I transferred to a different uni and the difference in quality was astonishing. Luckily I paid in-state at UDel so, even though I wasted three years filling out verb conjugation worksheets, at least I won't be drowning in debt because of it. The courses I took that were unrelated to my major were actually decent, I must say. I enjoyed the English courses I took there. If you go to UDel, you must also be mindful that the campus is beautiful, but the surrounding city is a dump and a cultural wasteland. It's like Gummo meets Jersey Shore out there. It's incredibly depressing to live in that environment (if you have to get off-campus housing). I made great friends at UDel and keep my resentment carefully hidden from them out of respect (also because I do believe that UD is a top school in several other areas, just not the one I wanted).
