Major: (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a first year student at Rit, I am a graphic design major. Your fist year you will start with foundation courses, this includes 2d, drawing, 3d and your liberal arts requirements, electives. These classes all though seem tedious because of the amount of work and time they acquire are very beneficial in the end, you will learn a lot of elements and skills that help you with your design process, major. For example, you will learn color theory, craftsmanship, presentation , etc. Craftsmanship-that is one of the biggest one, professors are very nit pick about how well something is done. 2d-is a class of traditional and digital art, possibly one of my favorites, Drawing-be prepared to draw nude models(not good looking ones either more women and men in their 40-60s) 3D-lots of building and creating with your hands The students, if you put effort to be social and open are all very friendly and willing to get to know each other. You have to find something to do, although the college itself registers a lot of events for the students, we have had comedians, magicians, singers and game days , etc. *Get SEASON HOCKEY tickets-it's a must, its a hot event , to go to and meet new people, cheer on the RIT TIGERS Classes are quarterly this means 11 weeks of packed up work, midterms and finals so you "will be" Busy. For design majors finals are usually a final design project rather than a test. There are plenty of places to eat on campus and thats a chill thing to do with friends, as well as clubs and on campus parties, you just have to find them and know the party people. The college is very academically focused, be prepared to work a lot and have a lot of competitions, live critiques.
