I could list a billion reasons to avoid this school but I'll stick with the core concerns, which are: 1.) The school has a low tolerance of diversity. There is a creeping increase of minorities but the students are very oblivious to this fact. This school had its FIRST black history celebration in 2010 yet it has been in existence for about two hundred years. The black students only associate with other black students. The asians only associate with other asian students. The whites only associate with other white students. There are only a fistful of hispanics here. There is little interaction amongst races, with the exception of a handful of black guys hooking up with white girls. The school is clearly segregated and the administration is lost in this whole situation. If you are a minority, watch out. Its no secret that people attempt to run minorities over with cars and look down upon them. If you are African-American, everyone will automatically think you're from Haiti or Africa, even after you have clearly stated that you are a natural-born American. This school has never had more than five minorities here until now so its as if we are living in the 1950s because racism is alive and well here, unlike most colleges (who had dealt with racist issues decades ago). Administration acts like they care about the minorities when they really don't. They just need minorities attendance at this institutuion to receive federal funding. You will only be viewed as a "colored person." The surrounding town is comprised of old white people, definitely born during segregated times. We all know what their perception of people of different races are.... All in all, this college is an unsafe place if you are a minority. You will feel alone and isolated. College is about making life long friends but you will only be pre-judged and possibly attacked. 2.) Everyone goes home on the weekend so campus is always dead. If you don't have a car, you're fucked and will basically feel like a prisoner here. Don't even bother to ask anyone with a car to take you some where, they will look at you like you're crazy, act as if you owe them the world, and make you feel like complete shit. I'm not exaggerating. The majority of the people who attend this hell-hole are actually from the east coast. East-coasters are probably the meanest people you will ever encounter in your life. There are hardly any parties. As I mentioned earlier, the town is full of old people so there's definitely nothing to get involved in within the community. The town is about a block long anyway and everything closes around seven. The school makes it seem like there are many activities to be involved in when there really isn't any active clubs. Even if you wanted to create a club, it'd be impossible to do because hardly anyone is here (they all leave during the weekends.) No one is optimistic here. They stick to themselves or the little crew they have formed during the first week school started. It's like high school all over again but worse. Its the most depressing and boring setting I have ever been in. 3.) There is no football team because the college is too small. Hence, students and faculty never come together as a family for sporting events. We do have a rugby team, which is actually pretty good but thats about it. All other sports suck. THERE IS NO SCHOOL SPIRIT! Everyone sits at the game with blank expressions on their face in total silence. We don't even have a cheer leading team. Its always gloomy here. I can count on my hands how many times I have seen the sun up here. Its always cloudy, raining, or snowing. It just sucks. 4.) DORMS ARE TERRIBLE! With such a high tuition, you would think that this school would have made an ample amount of rennovation on all of their buildings but they won't because they don't care about the students at all. The residence halls, with the exceptions of rooke, lawson, and danforth, have unnecessary pipes all around the rooms, creaky floors, pealing walls, and consistently dirty bathrooms. Students live like animals and thats highly unacceptable. 5.) Food sucks. It is repetitous and will have you forever pooping your brains out. All in all, this is not the college experience I imagined having. If you like being away from civilization, eating crappy food, and the feeling of loneliness, come here. If not, I suggest you go somewhere else, especially if you are a minority. I BEG YOU TO NOT COME HERE! I'm trasnferring the hell out of here ASAP.
