Transferred from University of Texas Austin to TTU, best decision I could have made. While Austin is an amazing fun city, it is hard to concentrate on your school work, and frankly I was tired of being a number and going to a school where sports dominates much of students lives. While Tech also has a lot of sports, the focus is much more academic, sure UT has more research but they also have a larger endowment, the 1 on 1 research and academic work is much much better at Tech. I did not feel like a number at all, I felt like a valued member of my class, and my professors all knew my name. The Rawls Business school is simply amazing, every year it is ranked higher and higher by Newsweek and Forbes and the reason is because it is an amazing business school. Lubbock is a really nice town, especially in the fall and spring, summers are hot, and winters are cold, but the rest of the year is so gorgeous and the weather is perfect. When it does snow though it is really fun. Having grown up in Fort Worth/Dallas and living in Austin for a year, I was surprised at how much there was to do in Lubbock, amazingly everything you could hope to find is there. In the years I've been at TTU they have been expanding all across town and on campus as well. My friends at A&M and UT complain about being a number, here at Tech you are not a number, you are an individual and are treated like one.
