Lets just clear a few things up and add some points.. No specific order. - NYU is overrated and overpriced. It's just that simple. - The education is a joke and may seem like there an essence but that's just because professors give so much busy work, you don't know wtf is going on except that you're miserable. The retention rate/transfer rate is pretty bad too. - Stern is NOT #2.. So go update your statistics ladies and gents. - Dealing with Stern's numerous layers of Hell and all the bull is NOT worth it. No one in the school is happy, half of the students there dress/act like they're going to their post grad job interviews and only a few students actually care to help you because everyone else is too self absorbed. - You'll spend more nights in the library than you'll spend in your own bed and in turn your bed is a new spot to store books since you won't sleep anymore. - On that note, I've noticed the only truly happy students are those found in Tisch... - If you're looking to go to COLLEGE, don't go to NYU. Unless you're ready for a 9-5 job after HS, you're applying for a 4yr slap in the face reality check. Some people like it, some don't. - Mon, Tues, Wed = Work your ass off and still not finish anything that you meant to finish/be miserable. Thurs = go binge at some cheap watering hole/fake being happy. Fri= do some more work and still somehow not finish. Sat = party again and hate yourself for doing it because you have so much work due on Monday and you'll be hungover Sunday.. - NYU is no longer a dream school and has one of the highest suicide and misery rates around... Has had for a while too! Just ask around, or check out the library which is now somewhat suicide proof from the tiles on the floors to the plastic surrounding the balconies. - Sure NYU is rather open minded but the student body isn't as liberal as it's made out to be. Racial tensions, prejudices, and more are very alive on campus. - Our greek life is the only way to be social ON CAMPUS and it's sketchy and half assed anyways. - NYU does NOT have a good social scene or nice campus... NYC has a social scene which NYU students can choose to get involved in. - I would say that most students become alcoholics or take up some other type of drug to help them cope with the miserable time they're covering up with fake smiles, designer clothing and other materialistic things. - Half the students that went here don't get jobs out of school so don't get your hopes up. Employers are starting to catch onto the fact that where you graduate from no longer relates to how smart you are or how good of a worker you are, just how much you're willing to pay a school for an education you could have gotten somewhere else cheaper. He's saving himself the hassle and some money. But yeah, check it out for yourself and don't let what people say good or bad sway your decision. I'm from NJ and I love the city, I'm just not fond of this school now that I've actually attended it. After this semester I'll be transferring out to UVa. I apologize for ranting and whatnot, but I hardly ever get the chance to and it was quite fun. One thing NYU IS good for.. Transferring.
