Date: Nov 13 2007 Major: (This Major's Salary over time) My college has only slightly helped me, it was the job experience that has really boosted my career. I happened to know my previous boss through the restaurant I worked at. She decided to hire me part time in the laboratory because I had a degree in Microbiology and she needed someone. She also saw how hard I worked in the restaurant and was hoping I would apply that to the lab. I did and she helped me obtain my current job in Miami.
The moral of the story is that in college it's more about the connections you make and the people you meet not about the actual education. I looked for two years after college before getting a job in my major, most employers required at least 2 years experience in a lab or a Masters degree. My suggestion would be to do internships over the summer and go on to obtain your Master's.
