Major: (This Major's Salary over time)
WOW, where do I begin. I decided to go to GSU first as a business major and then I switched to computer science. The reason I chose it was that it was on my way to work so it provided a convenient way to go to school and work. When I first started going to GSU I had the feeling from the registrars office and the One-Stop shop that I was really wanted by the university and they were very happy to have me there. After 3 semesters I found out why. This university seems desperate for students and their curriculum is a little off base with required classes that dont seem to make any sense. The teachers were very nice but not as knowledgable as I expected. The quality of the material and education provided was sub-par. Thanks to my good high school education I was able to get by and get value from it. By my fourth semester I realized I was not going to get any value out of the program I was in and I am moving on to the Art Institute. I just felt like I was going in circles. There are two other major concerns that pushed me to leave. One was the parking setup is atrocious, with parking decks in several miss-placed locations. Not only that you have to pay to use the parking and then on top of the parking fee there is a per-use fee. So its 30$ to get a parking permit then $4.50 per usage. The other major factor is the safety of the campus which is non-existent. In the last two weeks there has been a shooting on campus and another carjacking in the middle of the day. I have had my ipod stolen from me and many other incidents that have lead me to leave. I think the lack of safety was the biggest concern but the other is just the lack of any direction in their education programs. The campus is also very old and run down, I felt like I took a step back about 30 years every time I went to class. The one compliment I do have is their registration and admissions process is top of the line. They have an online system called go-solar that is great for tracking financial aid, grades, and registering. But beyond that there is not much reason to go here.
