Major: (This Major's Salary over time)
UNCW is a good school for a person interested in getting a solid education. It's not a place for someone who wants a cutting edge education or to be surrounded by liberal thought. For example, I'm an English major with a concentration in professional writing. To earn my degree I took classes in Business writig, writing about film, techincal writing, the list goes on...my point is, that I learned such a wide variety of things that I'm not sure I feel qualified to do any of them. All of the classes in the program were designed to help students when they entered the workforce. That's great and really helpful but I think that universities aren't ment to be vocational schools and at this point that's what UNCW is. On a brighter note, with in the English department thier are several younger professors that are interested in talking to students about new media, which is cool. I think that when you look at UNCW you have to remember it's a 60 year old institution that has spent the past 15 trying to clean up it's reputation. In recent years UNCW has been trying to beef up its academic programs, build a better art program and make it notable for reasons other than being at the beach. I think the school is great, just not for everyone.
