Earlham College is a great school in terms of academics. Apparently it has one of the strongest undergrad biology programs in the nation, but I would argue that also the economics, and language departments are fairly strong... Professors at Earlham are extremely gifted and dedicated to helping students and teach academic material in the best way possible. A MAJOR downside is that Earlham College is literately located in the middle of nowhere. This means that the students have almost no opportunity to get off campus. Therefore there is NO access to cafés and etc. and one often experiences to have very limited freedom. Thus student life is boring and uninspiring! Though the school is very strong in academics, the students that go here aren't gifted and not very dedicated to studying. Therefore, also due to the lack of opportunities, people usually get drunk on weekends. - There's nothing wrong with that - it's just sad that it happens because people don't have anything better to do. Overall, Earlham College provides its students with an education of highest class, but gives them very limited freedom to pursue their passions and interests outside of school. The unfortunate location of Earlham College was what made me unable to spend 4 years of my life there, which led me to transfer.
