Major: (This Major's Salary over time)
As someone that has switched majors quite a few times, I have a good understanding of the students, professors, classes, environment... UCSB is a really great school. Period. It is really insulting to hear everryyyone on tours go, what's the party scene like???, when there's so much more to the school. The professors are all realllly nice and interesting people. Genuinely interested in the students. Great experiences with them. Yes, classes are huge, but teachers' office hours are great (one on one meetings with the professors to ask questions). Also, the bus econ major is really nice, and should prepare anyone for fields in accntng, busines... Study abroad options are plentiful, which is always nice. About the students and IV and the party scene: students, it seems like, are mostly from LA and it's surrounding suburbs. It has a very "socal" feel, which i despise. People seem outwardly friendly, but really they talk a lot of sh*t behind peoples backs. it's very annoying. Don't expect meaningful relationships or friendships. People here are connections, and affilations, not best friends. this means that you will have fun partying with them over the weekends, but not much else besides that. IV is disgusting...lots of students, bad appartements, poor mexicans. A stark contrast from posh santa barbara 5 minutes away. Parties here are wild, fun, and crazy. Hooking up wtih girls is easy, and everyone has fun stories to tell. The students don't seem to be that concerned with studying or academics, but they all are smart, and manage to get good grades.
