I have been to UH for two years and now at SWT for over a year. I checked a few crime statistics for 2002-2004 that universities must disclose to the public. UH aggravated assault 5 per year and SWT aggravated assault was 3 or 2 per year. UH burglaries are 25, 14, 30 and SWT buglaries are 37, 39, 41. SWT larceny was 158, 164, 134. Couldn't find UH larceny statistic. But UH defines larceny under burglary. UH forcible sex was 2, 3, 0 and SWT forcible sex was 4, 1, 2. I never witnessed a crime at UH. I once left my passenger window completely open all day and my checkbook and stuff was still there. SWT student told me that his friend witnessed a rape outside the UH dorm. I told this story to an acquantance and he thought I was the one who witnessed the rape and did nothing like a coward. At SWT, someone vandalized my motorcycle that will cost $450 to fix plus lawnscape manager created $200 more damage to bottom fairing. Police operator said lots of motorcycles are stolen in San Marcos. I felt safe at UH. I'm not even black, I'm Korean. The neighborhood is extremely poor around campus. But strangely if you drive maybe a mile from campus suddenly expensive or nice homes and apartments.
