Everything I had hoped for and more! The school was established in 1876, so it is definitely rich with tradition. One tradition is FOOTBALL. Even when our team sucks, the stadium is still packed. Another tradition is "HOWDY". People don't say it as much anymore, which is kind of sad. However, there is still a friendly atmosphere. The friendly campus was one reason I chose A&M over Texas. Walking around campus at Texas, people stare through you. When my mom and me visitited A&M, we would have to stop and look at our map. Everytime we stopped, someone approached us offering to give directions. That did not happen at UT. College Station might not be Austin or Houston. I think that can be a good thing. It makes it more of a college town where practically everyone at the grocery store is college students. There is still plenty enough stuff to do. Also, some schools are more commuter schools where the same high school cliques continue on to college. That makes it difficult for some people to make friends. Everyone is pretty much on the same boat at A&M. Classes are pretty challenging and the professors are intelligent. I guess one negative thing is the class sizes. A lot of classes are 200+. Some people learn better when it is more one on one. Well...good luck in your decision making. Choosing where you want to go to college is definitely a stressful time. I am going through it all over again myself. I am currently deciding where I want to go to grad school and studying for the GRE. Don't get too stressed because everything will fall into place. Make sure you enjoy your senior year because..it will be over in a flash!
