Major: (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a senior mechanical engineering major form San Antonio. I have loved my experience here at Texas Tech. The campus is incredible beautiful. Lubbock does take a little getting use to, but you find you like it more and more each year you come back. The Lubbock community is great. Big time bible belt. There are plenty of churches to get involved with. Lubbock's remote location means that the students stay in town for the weekends. Greek life is really big, but not necessary to have a good time. Frat boys here will wear you out but its not overwhelming. I suggest getting to know people in your major. It will make your social life better as well as help tremendously academically, especially if your in a hard college like engineering. Sports here are great. There is nothing like game day in raiderland. We are the only school in the nation that has a school sponsored student tailgate party. Raidergate always brings in some good bands and is worth getting up at 8 am on monday morning to get your truck pass. The girls are ridiculously gorgeous. Though they are few and far between in the engineering department. Park only in the parking lot that your parking sticker allows you to park in. You will get a ticket otherwise. Taco villiage is the best hole in the wall mexican restaurant that serves free beer on friday and saturday nights. Chili cook off in the fall is definitely worth the money. I could go on and on. Bottom line: go to ut if you need to be in a big city downtown environment with a bunch of weird liberals; go to tamu if you want to be one of the herd; go to Tech if you want to get a great education and have a great time doing it.
