I'm not sure if any of the previous people are part of a minority group so I will make it known that I am an African-American female. Williams is what you make of it socially but academically I couldn't possibly ask for more. I concentrated in Political Theory and found some of the best professors and some of the most arrogant (still great profs just annoying at times). The History department is exceptional and in hindsight I wish I majored in history instead of Political Science. Socially, I was very involved with student activities from the Black Student Union (which gets a negative review at times) to a dance group. I'm a very politically active person so BSU was perfect for me. We were able to cater to the special needs of minorities on campus from taking people to hair salons for ethnic needs, conferences in New England and basic game nights to entertain the community. Williams does have a lot of "old" money students but for the most part everyone is friendly and the only negative responses I received regarding my race were basic prejudice reactions when a sheltered girl from Minnesota would meet me. The thing is, once you make an effort to speak to people that person will remember your name forever! I disagree with the person who says Williams isn't worth the money. Williams is known by those who can help you excel PERIOD! Those who do nothing gain nothing those that try and network will go very far post Williams.
