Well there are some things you should know before coming to Earlham. Keep in mind you are choosing a small, isolated college in a very small and homogenously working class town. If that is what you're looking for you might find what you want here. Also, the smallness of the student body makes it feel like high school in many ways. There are cliques, but once you find your group you will probably be pretty happy. People are closed minded here also -- don't let the Quaker part fool you. They are very liberal and loud hippies tend to be the dominant group. This can be very intimidating for some people, including myself. The administration is also somewhat hypocritical in that it says there is a no drinking policy but this is far from the truth and they like to talk a lot but never get anything done -- because everything is student run. There also needs to be more diversity on campus. I came here expecting a lot more, and there is some, you just have to look for it, but pretty much everyone is a liberal hippie type and this is an middle to upper middle class dominated school. The professors are pretty good, although liberally biased and nothing amazing. Overall the school is not worth the price you pay, and also if you are an out-of-state student it is especially not worth it, unless you are a liberal hippie who wants to go to a small isolated campus that feels like high school in a small town. If that is you, then you will probably like it here. The course work is challenging and people are motivated and smart for the most part. Also, there are many limitations on the course offerings since it is such a small school. Personally, I am transferring to a more affordable state school in a city that has a lot more to offer. Good luck to anyone that is going here.
