Some belittle A&M for being conservative and close-minded, but I would disagree severly. First off, calling someone a close-minded redneck is hypocritical in the extreme. Second, I've never got the impression that A&M is close minded. Yes, there are some individuals that are totally insane. On both sides of the fence. They are both irritating as well. But your average A&M student is friendly, accepting, and all around nice people. Except those in frats. Luckily, A&M has not been infested with frats like some schools, and their overall stupidity is kept to a minimum. The campus is okay. The old parts are beautiful, with lots of trees and grand old buildings. The newer parts, the western half of the campus, has far fewer trees and much more ugly buildings. During the hot Texas summers, it's draining to walk across that part of campus.
