An excellent education. MSU has earned several awards and these are all well-deserved--"Best Value for Education", "One of the Best Public Universities in the Nation", "Top 10 Best Kept Secret Universities". There is also a high level of safety. As a person who attended the University of Kentucky before my transfer to MSU, I can attest to the safety of the MSU campus. It is well-lighted, in a small town atmosphere, and the university provides public safety escorts to those who desire them--although these are rarely, if ever, used due to the safe nature of the campus. Although Murray (the town) is small without much nightlife, there are several great restaurants for a town its size (applebee's, fifteenth and olive, the big apple, the bull pen, e.g.). Murray is also a 45 minute drive to a much larger town (Paducah) and is only an hour and a half from Nashville. The university also provides a plethora of extracurricular activites--intramural sports (resident halls and greeks), student committees, clubs, greeks, etc. A new state of the art fitness center is also being built (April 2004--wll be completed soon), ALL the dorms are air conditioned (something that is lacking on many campuses), and the food is much better than the average university. I highly recommend it.
