Major: (This Major's Salary over time)
Kenyon College is an excellent school if you are a certain type of person (described below) 1. Apathetic politically, leaning towards the conservative side 2. Somewhat preppy, mostly Uggs-wearing, North Face, J-Crew types 3. English major, Theater major, or International Studies (English majors can be pretentious at times, but the department itself in fantastic) 4. Into the frat party scene. Admissions plays down the focus on alcohol here, but if you don't drink, you will definitely have a hard time finding alternatives here. There is NOTHING to do in Gambier and the non-drinking alternatives here are very poorly attended. Freshman FLOCK to Old Kenyon to get drunk, and the parties here are not fun unless you do drink. The good things about Kenyon are: 1. The faculty, hands-down, are incredible. From English to Poli Sci to Biology, they are there even on SUNDAY AFTERNOONS to help you for hours or just talk to you about your personal life. Accomodating and wonderful. You will get a stellar education IF Kenyon offers your major. 2. The campus is beautiful. I visited SO many schools, similar to Kenyon, Bowdoin Bates Colby Colgate Haverford Carleton Macalester, all of those. Kenyon is hands-down the most gorgeous campus. Although there is nothing to do, it's certainly pretty to look at if nothing else. I am transferring to a school of similar caliber that is less frat/drinking focused and has a more liberal student body. Email me if you'd like to know more, I'd be happy to be honest with you.
