My first two years of college were spent at Oxford College of Emory University,a 500 student undergraduate school associated with Emory University. The small intimate campus was fantastic for developing deep friendships with intellegent and interesting individuals, as well as the advantage of smaller more personal classes. The main advantage of a higher ranked more difficult school, such as Oxford or Emory, is the opportunity for first rate academic instruction, as well as the opportunity to develop your intellect beyond what you thought possible. For any high school student, whether you think you have the ability or the desire to achieve academically, I recommend that you attempt to get into a college or university that will provide a challenge. The satisfaction from being pushed both personally and academically is beyond measure. I finished my undergraduate degree at Florida State University, and while it was a fine school,with some challenging classes, there was a marked difference in the level of the academics and the student body realtive to Oxford and Emory. My advise is don't settle for less, challenge yourself.
